The Gibb River Ride is a long, hot, dusty stretch of road through the Kimberley. Famed for it's corrugations, creek crossings, and the odd headwind all of which are seemingly designed to make one question their life choices. The opportunity to take on this ride with a small group of First Nations students from Yiramalay Studio School, who hail from both the Kimberly and Arnhem Land makes this experience something far bigger than just turning pedals.
This isn’t just a ride; it’s a way of getting out there, seeing country, feeling it, deepening the attachment to the land and understanding it in a different way. There’ll be tough days, plenty of laughs, probably a few mechanical disasters, and a lot of time to think. It’s part adventure, part graft, and part something harder to pin down, but it matters.
